Children’s Dentistry

kiddentistryWe are lucky enough to have multiple generations of families as patients who trust us to help them navigate every stage of a child’s dental development from offering teething solutions for baby to assessing orthodontic needs for a teenager. We also know that a visit to the dentist can be cause for trepidation among adults and children alike so we take special care to assure a painless and fun experience. Some of the topics we will discuss are:

Teething » Babies will begin the process that we call teething (crying and drooling) as early as three months of age even though their teeth have been developing since before birth. There are many ways to soothe a baby during this painful process including homeopathic teething tablets, cold teething rings, chewing on a cool damp washcloth, and many others. Please feel free to talk with us if your baby does not seem to be responding to any of these.

First Dental Visit » A child’s first dental visit should take place about 6 months after the first tooth has appeared. Introducing a child to the dentist early, before there is a need for any kind of procedure, is greatly beneficial for establishing a positive experience that will help lead to long-term dental health.

Orthodontic Recommendations, Cavities and more » Dental technology has greatly improved since the days of silver fillings and metal braces. We will recommend ways your child can prevent future visits to the dentist and we will also be sure to direct you to the right specialists should need be.
