Dr. Dennis Andresen graduated from the University of California, San Francisco School of Dentistry in 1967 and began practicing in Salinas. Raised on a farm in the San Joaquin Valley, the cooler Salinas Valley area was appealing to his rural roots, and the Gabilan and Santa Lucia mountain ranges added visual impact.
During his time at UCSF, he lived in the midst of the Haight-Ashbury at the height of its heyday and saw Janis Joplin, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Grace Slick, Jefferson Airplane, and many others perform live down the street from his classes. Coming from a small farming community to the Haight-Ashbury was a “growing experience” for him. He, however, was obliged to keep his hair short and his rebellions limited to driving around in a lowered ’59 Chevy Impala. He was becoming a dentist, after all.
He is a formidable triathlete, winning the old guys age group mountain bike Wildflower Triathlon three times, and is known for his awesome microwaved pizza. Most important of all, he and wife, Bette, have become grandparents to the cutest kid on the block who keeps Dr. Andresen fit chasing her around. He is very thankful for his great staff, who he credits for helping create a wonderful practice where he still looks forward to coming to work.
The Salinas Valley community has recognized his calm demeanor, impeccable honesty, competence, and commitment to his work and patients with a Best Dentist in Monterey County award. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Monterey Bay Dental Society, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is also an Invisalign® Preferred Provider and a recognized “Top Dentist.”
Dr. Grant Rosen knew from an early age that dentistry was his calling. What called him to Salinas remains a mystery. At any rate, he answered both calls, and has always been grateful for the life he’s been given, working with his friend and partner, Dr. Andresen, and the rest of our family at Salinas Dental Health, and helping take care of our truly wonderful Salinas Valley neighbors and friends since 1977. Dr. Rosen is consistently lauded by his patients as an exceptionally good listener who also always explains procedures completely.
Speaking of Salinas, it is also where he and his wife, Melanie, are proud to have raised their two daughters, along with various dogs, fish, reptiles, rodents and amphibians along the way.
Where Dr. Andresen is the athletic stud-muffin of the pair, Dr. Rosen is the musician, having played clarinet in the local symphonies and currently in the Ensemble Monterey Chamber Orchestra. Hobbies include photography, cycling, ocean kayaking, camping and backpacking, and building airplane models. He is also an expert power-napper, as anyone walking by his treatment room after lunchtime can attest.
Dr. Rosen has served on the board of directors of the Monterey Bay Dental Society and Ensemble Monterey, and has even been spotted serving up heaping deli sampler plates at the Jewish Food Festival in Carmel Valley. Seems like he’s had lots of callings since settling down in Salinas, and couldn’t be happier, or more filled with gratitude.
He is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Monterey Bay Dental Society, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine.
Dr. Ria Suri is a recent graduate of the University of the Pacific Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco where she excelled and earned top honors and awards in many categories, including the ADA Foundation/Colgate Dental Student’s Conference Award, the Aesthetic Dentistry Award and the Oral Diagnosis Award! Wow!
She loves cooking for friends and family, or just about anybody who is willing to try her recipes (ask her about her Chicken Tikka Malasa or “CTM”, as she likes to call it). Her passion for various cuisines also enhances her love for exploring new places both locally and across the globe. It is plain to see that the curiosity and openness she brings to her global explorations translates into an easy and welcoming demeanor with patients and co-workers.
Whether it be treating adults or kids, she enjoys dentistry as a profession and as a means to serving society. Dentistry incorporates her personal and professional goals of building close relationships with her patients, treating disease, continuing lifelong education, and empowering those she serves to choose a healthy dental lifestyle.
We are excited to welcome her to our staff and hope you will say hello when you see her!
